ON THE CONCEPT OF SPACE:
Sir:
You may suspect the enormous complexity that a subject apparently as simple as the concept of space can contain, when it has to be summarized in a few typewritten pages.
At a popularizing level we wish to answer the request you made by telephone. Throughout these lines you will be able to see that part of the statements and content are by now already known to terrestrial specialists in Cosmology, Physics and Philosophy. The rest belongs to our scientific heritage. As we do not know your cultural level, we shall begin this report with a few fundamental concepts already known to the scholars of your planet. Any brother specialized in the Physical Sciences, Astronomy and Mathematics will be able to expand on such ideas for you or explain them more exactly.
Anyone who looks at himself in the mirror will observe that the image he contemplates of himself IS NOT IDENTICAL TO THE ONE THAT A BROTHER contemplates of us. (The imaginary being we contemplate is, to begin with, “LEFT-HANDED”).
It is enough to hold a written page up to the mirror to corroborate what all men have verified without attaching greater importance to it. The mirror seems to transpose left onto right. Any student of UMMO could chat at length about this, and we thought that, at the terrestrial scientific level, nothing related to this transposition was puzzling for a cultured person of the Earth.
But not long ago a brother stationed in the United States informed us, astonished, that an American essayist had written a book of popular science in which he posed the following problem:
If a person is able to see himself in the mirror with his right and left inverted, why does he not see the ends DOWN and UP inverted, and contemplate himself in the mirror with his feet at the top?
It seems that in the United States only 2 per cent of the persons consulted gave a satisfactory answer (ADULT INDIVIDUALS). Only 38% of a group made up exclusively of experts and students of Physics, Psychiatry and Mathematics answered quickly.
This amply illustrates for you that, if a large percentage of terrestrial persons are not prepared to understand certain fundamental notions linked with spatial Symmetry, the vision of images and perception at the neurocortical level, with even less reason will they be able to analyse reasoning linked to higher Mathematics.
When two objects are symmetrical with respect to a plane we say of them that they are INNUO VIAAXOO (you would call them ENANTIOMORPHS); see image 1.
It is easy to observe that the two objects cannot be superimposed despite their evident morphological identity. You yourselves on earth could select thousands of examples (right shoe and left shoe, left-handed screw and right-handed screw, the two ears of the OEMII (body), etc.
Obviously, many INNUO VIAAXOO (enantiomorphic) bodies can be superimposed when their morphology is symmetrical: for example the two pyramids of image 2.
Is a real field of forces symmetrical? [1] Every body that can be divided into two identical or INNUOVIAAXOO (enantiomorphic) parts by means of an ideal flat surface we call AA INNUO (Symmetrical); image 3.
The OEMII (human body 
(apart from secondary physiological differences) and the regular polyhedra, among many other ideal and real bodies, are AA INNUO (symmetrical).
Any student of the Physical and Exact Sciences could define for you the concept of Field in its EARTH version.
Imagine that in a “region” of the cosmos free of asteroids, cosmic dust, gases, etc., we place a metal sphere. Apparently nothing has changed around it; but if we now place another small sphere at a distance of 144 enmoo, it is driven towards the large sphere with a force that you will call gravitational.
Let us repeat the experiment at different points A, B, C, … of that cosmic region. The closer we place the small sphere, the greater the impelling Force will be, and therefore its speed towards the central mass.
You will define the field of forces as the region surrounding the sphere where such a phenomenon manifests itself. A region whose radius is infinite (Image 4).
Your Physicists usually represent a field graphically by means of points to which they assign a symbol they call vectors (in this case FORCE-VECTORS). To the central sphere represented by the point M (image 4) is assigned the characteristic of INERT MASS CREATING that mysterious GRAVITATIONAL FIELD.
Grave questions inevitably arise before a concept so poorly set out.
What is MASS? Does every corpuscle, every body, possess INERT MASS? What real nature do those mysterious FORCES have? When we pick up an object we know that it has a volume and at the same time that it “weighs”, that it “has mass”. Is it that MASS and VOLUME or SPACE are one and the same thing, or at least that the two concepts are intimately linked, so that a voluminous object without mass cannot be conceived, and vice versa?
This confusion inevitably arises when we start from the false basis that space is an entity alien to our mental phenomena such as SENSATION and PERCEPTION.
Does space exist OUTSIDE OUR PSYCHIC personality, or is it an illusion of our senses?
To answer yes or no would be a grave aberration. WE on UMMo know for certain that there exists a REALITY outside ourselves, which stimulates our brain and develops a mental process that we call BUAWAIGAAI (PERCEPTION).
But that reality is as different from the MENTAL PERCEPTION as a mountain is from the word M - O - U - N - T - A - I - N that serves to represent it.
This concept is not alien to your men of Thought and Science. Observe some examples: what resemblance is there between COLOUR (PERCEPTION) and the electromagnetic wave that stimulates our retina? Colour is a pure psychological phenomenon. It does not exist outside our SELF; there is even the paradox that some wave trains provoke different perceptions. Thus when the vibratory stimulus is 398 earth millimicrons, we interpret it as a patch of red colour; but if it reaches our skin with a longer wavelength (image 5) “we feel heat”, something very different from COLOUR.
One and the same external reality provokes different illusions.
Well then, SPACE as such is another illusion of our senses. There does exist an external “something” that provokes that psychological perception, but that “something” is in reality as different from our illusory concept of space as the beam of waves is from the green or yellow patch that the mind perceives.
And we were telling you more: your specialists insist on discriminating the concepts of FIELD of FORCES and SPACE as different realities. You admit that the nerve pathways mask the sensation FORCE and the SENSATION SPACE, and you elaborate a whole complex of mathematical equations to define that “something” outside our SELF called the GRAVITATIONAL, MAGNETIC AND ELECTROSTATIC FIELD, and that other three-dimensional or n-dimensional “something” called SPACE.
You know that a FIELD of FORCES is not conceived, and that all SPACE is affected by those fields.
We affirm more: FIELD OF FORCES AND SPACE are identical. One cannot conceive of A UNIVERSE alien to ours in which, because there are no corpuscles, there is no “deformation of that space” which we call FIELD.
To be more concrete: it is the action of the gravitational field which, by stimulating our nerve endings and conducting a series of encoded impulses through the neurons to our cerebral cortex, makes our consciousness forge that illusion we call SPACE.
Therefore, when we speak of dimensions to define space, beware of believing that the dimension length in the WAAM (Cosmos) is as we imagine it in our mind.
As this may continually demand a considerable mental effort from you, throughout the report (for convenience) you may accept that the length of a straight line is synonymous with dimension, and in a certain way it is.
We shall speak to you about spatial perception; about how we conceive the decadimensional WAAM; about the true concept of the asymmetry of our WAAM (cosmos) that makes it ENANTIOMORPHIC to the UWAAM (anticosmos). We shall give you some guidance on how we polarize the subcorpuscles to make space travel possible by taking advantage of the curvature of space, and on the real distances that allow such journeys to be made.
