The nights on UMMO are cold, even during the periods when our Star IUMMA directs its rays almost perpendicularly onto the equatorial regions.
At about 575 UIW all the occupants of the XAABIUANNA (DWELLING) withdraw to begin their rest. In a previous report we told you how all of us daily devote a fraction of time to the sublime objective of meditation and prayer. This interval seldom falls below twenty UIW.
GEE and YIE (MAN AND WOMAN) remain alone in their IASAABII (ROOM), hermetically closed and acoustically isolated from the outside (1). Only a soft, almost imperceptible whistle reveals the operation of the air-renewal nozzles.
Above, the stars in a slightly cloudy sky shine through the transparent panels of the Roof. Perhaps that night the faint shining ribbons of soft greenish tones that the UULIBOOA (A KIND OF AURORA BOREALIS) displays at great height will strangely embellish the firmament. Then our spirit may be more inclined to prayer.
The walls of the IAXAABII glow with a soft magenta or violet colour. For that moment we choose those tones that psychologically predispose the brain towards the mental functions most closely linked to religious thought. Violet, Bluish Green, Cyan and Purple at a low light level are usually the ones selected.
And the OMGEEYIE, seated each in a XAXOOU (PIT SEAT), half-close their eyes and contemplate themselves. They analyse themselves, first summoning into the Field of their Consciousness the acts of the XII (DAY of UMMO); then a whole mental process begins in which man speculates about his existence rooted in the Society in which he lives and bound together within the WAAM. He offers himself to the WOA who generated him and imbues his thought with the memory of UMMOWOA, the God who, incarnated to bring him the truth, died amid the terrible tortures of vivisection.
There is no mystical experience. All union with his WOA (GOD) is confined to the plane of reasoning, not without, of course, a lively emotional reaction. We feel the aesthetic pleasure of our spiritual balance, and the greater the degree of certainty regarding the positive way in which we have fulfilled the divine UUAA (RELIGIOUS LAWS) on that XII (DAY), the greater the humble inner satisfaction our Personality experiences.
Our supreme religious objectives, apart from recognizing ourselves as generated by WOA, consist in granting each of our brothers a greater importance than the one we selfishly grant ourselves. Our spirit of service directed towards the brother (NEIGHBOUR), and above all towards the Society in which we are immersed, is for us a veritable obsessive idea.
The slightest personal failure in the real crystallization of that spirit of dedication can cause us serious emotional or sentimental disturbances. Man becomes aware of guilt and in his night-time prayer and meditation seriously reconsiders his conduct, trying to find psychological paths to reinforce the reflexes or mental habits that will perfect his future conduct towards his family, friends, superiors or subordinates.
Our gregarious tendencies are very marked. Solidarity with the mass of individuals surrounding us in our daily life is therefore very deep. One of our brothers will feel much more; a fault committed against the community, against Society; than when he has transgressed a UUAA (MORAL LAW) that binds us towards an isolated brother.
The faint acoustic signals of 10 UIW (A little after midnight, speaking in earthly language) may mark the end of the Meditation.
Both spouses begin in the dark the very brief task of undressing, immediately taking the antiseptic measures of personal hygiene by ablution in a suitable solution, which is seldom perfumed, and by controlled spraying and irradiation of eyes, mouth and nostrils.
The ablution takes place in a turbulent mass of water that is renewed at high speed in its different degrees of dissolution, temperature and ultrasonic vibration. For this each person gets completely into the XAXOOU (SEAT), whose inner platform lowers. The pit fills with liquid, while a transparent cover made of a semi-fluid sheet that solidifies rapidly protects the floor of the XAABI from splashes.
You must not interpret the custom on our Planet of taking off one's clothes in complete darkness as the fruit of an ancestral reaction of prudishness, for although it is true that our special instinct of modesty, which makes us suffer almost real psychological traumas when we see ourselves naked before a second person, is very marked in our Society, you must also realize that it appears irrational in the case of an OMGEEYIE (MARRIED COUPLE), in which the degree of intimacy is very high.
The truth is that our mentality in this field is different from yours. The mere act of transition; between being covered by the EEWEE (GARMENTS) and being stripped of them, carries for us an erogenous content so intense that we can only compare it on Earth to the reaction of those sexual perverts whom earthly Psychiatrists designate by the name of Transvestites.
In most cases this automatically produces orgasm in individuals of both sexes. The measure adopted of cutting off the lighting in the IAXAABI (ROOM OR CHAMBER) is preventive, to neutralize the displacement of that reaction.
The sudden sight of the undressed spouse, on the other hand, is accepted normally, in the same or similar conditions as among the inhabitants of Earth.
A short inaudible whistle followed by another modulated one, both for example at 23000 cycles per second, cause the WOOIA (IMAGE 19) to appear. Their shape is toroidal and they have on their upper surface an appreciable density of small holes or nozzles.

IMAGE 19
The WOOIA rises into the air without any support on the floor or walls. It remains suspended or levitating in the “void” through the action of a powerful electromagnetic force field. From it flows a substance that turns into an alveolar or foamy conglomerate which might remind you chemists of polyurethane foam. The product we use is less dense and antistatic and solidifies rapidly, though a thermal control device directs the process so that the foam spreads out in space, taking the shape of a parallelepiped broken by a sort of central hollow that allows the human body to be accommodated.
During the process of WOI WOI (SLEEP) we do not cover our bodies at all. Garments similar to the sheets or pyjamas, bedspreads or blankets so much used by you are unknown to us.
It is true that our environmental control as regards temperature and degree of humidity is perfect inside the IASAABII (ROOMS), and that on the days we sleep in the open (ALMOST 40% of the TOTAL TIME) the temperature must reach the limit that the human organism can bear without a dangerous alteration of the metabolism.
As an example showing that not even we, despite the refined degree of civilization attained, have yet uprooted certain strange forms of behaviour which, although not harmful to the organism or the mental faculties, are irrational and sterile, we shall tell you that many persons on UMMO sleep in the “Prone decubitus” position (as you call it) or in “Lateral decubitus”. The origin dates back some thousands of UMMO years, when scientists discovered the IBOONEE (COSMIC RAYS) and their modifying action on the germ cells of the genital organs (OVARY AND TESTICLES), capable of causing genetic alterations. It was considered that the individual could protect himself better from these penetrating radiations by not lying with his back downwards, but by interposing the greatest possible core of muscle mass.
Today we know perfectly well that such weak protection does not justify such rigid positional habits, but despite everything the reflexes of custom have persisted among people.
We Inhabitants of UMMO have acquired over time a special coenaesthetic sensitivity. Just as you are able to assess small differences in weight by means of delicate instruments (For example, installing an earthly balance inside a room to compare two masses: One kilogram of fodder or straw in one of the pans and one kilogram of Lead in the other pan, observing that the pointer of the balance tips in favour of the lead), our proprioceptive senses are able to discriminate, though without quantitative assessment, small dynamic differences. (U-C Note: See clarification in D41-10)
This sensitivity offers us a new source of psychological pleasure: Dynamic vibrations which for you represent no more than a strange sensation devoid of pleasurable reaction can be a new amusement for us. If the suspension in the void that you also experience in space travel (We choose the EXPRESSION “VOID” to describe suspension in a medium even though gas is present), in which the earth's gravitational Field is weak or is compensated by negative forces) can be unpleasant because of the vestibular disturbances it causes in the sense of orientation (INNER EAR), in us it can provoke alienating reactions.
On the other hand, placing the body within a mass of solid, flexible foam suspended in the air, such as that of the WOIOA (bed), accompanied by a gentle rocking that produces very small variations of acceleration, provokes affective or emotional states much more intense than among you.
As a curiosity we shall tell you that when here on Earth we find ourselves obliged to ride in lifts whose high speeds require strong accelerations at the points of arrival (LIFTS IN TALL BUILDINGS), we are frankly hard put to control our gestures of pleasure, which may resemble the unconscious mimicry set in motion during sexual orgasm.
As soon as they have lain down, a first stage begins in which coenaesthetic (Or Kinaesthetic) pleasure plays a very important part. Neither of the spouses turns towards the other yet. Both enjoy independently some genuinely aesthetic emotions that serve them as a preliminary sedative. As innocuous and licit as music may be among you, or the inhalation of perfumes among us.
In a coming report we shall dwell on our sexual practices, our sexual morality and ovulation control, or URAIWO KEAIA, equivalent among you to birth control.
(1) Soundproofing of the walls is achieved by very complex means, since the coefficients of acoustic absorption and transmission are variable at will. It would be complicated to give you details and list the physical units used for this technique. For example, sound levels are not assessed by means of a logarithmic function, as you do on Earth by measuring in decibels. Absorption, uniform for all acoustic frequencies, is carried out by means of foamy products that solidify and liquefy at will to obtain various degrees of bubble density. Frequencies of constant sound level and pitch are compensated by means of acoustic membranes which, excited by a controlled generator and located inside the walls themselves, vibrate at the same frequency but with phase inversion (A SOLUTION WE OFFER YOU, SINCE EARTHLY TECHNOLOGY WILL SOON HAVE SUITABLE MEANS FOR USING THIS METHOD IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANECHOIC CHAMBERS OR CHAMBERS WITH A LOW REVERBERATION COEFFICIENT (R TIME = ALMOST NIL). The procedure in short consists in Detecting the disturbing frequency (CONSTANT NOISE) for the automatic regulation of a unit similar to Earthly Audio-frequency Oscillators, with the difference that ours do not work on the basis of electronic circuits. The acoustic power generated is channelled on the one hand to those large-area membranes. On the other, to sound diffusers that do not work like earthly loudspeakers but by thermal control of a column of air (The thermal inertia of the gas has been totally eliminated). Back
