On 5 May 1965, two correspondents of ours in Germany and three in the United States received a report drafted in terms similar to the one we now have the honour of sending you in these typewritten sheets.
As, subsequently, over these last months, You and five other men from Espagne and France have suggested to us in telephone conversations that we send some notes recounting the History of our arrival on Planet Earth, we have thought it interesting to give you an abridged summary of the first vicissitudes undergone by the first exploring Group to arrive on Earth from our Planet “UMMO”.
FIRST CONTACT WITH PLANET EARTH
First of all we must warn you that there are difficulties of a technical and scientific order in identifying dates and instants of Time between two points of our Universe. Many physicists of Earth are not unaware that it makes no sense to identify an instant t. on Earth with another t’. elapsed at a point in our own Galaxy. Therefore, when we refer to a time interval Δt equivalent on this Planet to two years, for example, it will be aberrant, and lacking a realistic vision in the light of present-day Physics, to suppose it coherent and simultaneous with another similar interval on our star “UMMO”.
But since this report is purely Historical, and is not addressed to experts in Cosmology and relativistic Physics, we shall use a conventional language which, although lacking in scientific rigour, makes the account more intelligible. Thus, when in the course of our paragraphs we use expressions such as “Two years earlier”, You must not only suppose that the word “YEAR” is a terrestrial unit of time, but also bear in mind that it makes no sense to suppose that those two years elapsed on “UMMO” are simultaneous with as many lived by you on planet Earth.
PHYSICAL UNIT OF TIME 
“UIW” Its Terrestrial equivalent is 3.092 minutes. We define it as the interval of Time elapsed until WAELEUIE UOAD (called by you the Isotope Thorium C) reduces its Mass to 50% of its value.
TIME OF ROTATION OF “UMMO” (Approximately 600 UIW) about 30.9 hours.
TIME OF TRANSLATION OF “UMMO” around IUMMA. We divide it into “XEE” (18 XEE.) One XEE = 60 days or rotations of UMMO. The XEE is for us what the YEAR is for Terrestrials.
So that for practical purposes you may suppose that one TERRESTRIAL YEAR would be equivalent, if we disregard its character of ASIMULTANEITY, to 4.72186 “Years of UMMO or “XEE”
PHYSICAL UNIT OF LENGTH

ASTRONOMICAL UNIT OF LENGTH 
UALI its equivalent in terrestrial units is 12 raised to the power 4.3 light years.

“xii” (Whose translation has several meanings, for this word represents not only the DAY of UMMO but also the rotation of a Wheel, or the cycle per unit of Time.

Two years (TERRESTRIAL YEARS) before 28 March 1950, our XANMOOAIUVA Centre in the UIIOGAA IXIOGAA region picked up a radio emission of very low level, of frequency 413.43877 Megacycles per second, coming from the Galactic Star Group coded by us as 
This is one of the automatic Centres of our Planet in charge of the Exploration of Signals coming from our Galaxy. Signals that may be of an Electromagnetic or Luminous Nature, as well as trains of Gravitational waves (Practically unknown to you as regards the techniques of Generation and emission, but widely used by other Civilizations besides UMMO)
The duration of the signals picked up was minimal, 2.21 UIW (6.83 minutes), and consisted of short impulses and long impulses. (We have since learned that it was the Terrestrial MORSE code (dots and dashes), but our technicians interpreted it as binary code (Dot = zero; dash = one). This error led to an incorrect translation of the message, for after several possible interpretations had been made, the most coherent turned out to be the analytical expression of the equation that mathematically represents four orthogonal points in a plane. That is: A square. So much so that the presumed planet from which the signals came was christened with the word “OYAGAA” (Whose translation is: COLD STAR of the SQUARE.
It was easy to locate (Using our system of Galactic Coordinate references) The approximate point from which the emission had come. The OOYIA (DWARF STAR) from which the signal came was moreover perfectly visible (The SUN OF Your System). We also knew that at least four Planets (OOYAA) revolved around it, coded by us at that time as OOYAA

which correspond, the first to NEPTUNE, the second to SATURN, the third to JUPITER, and the fourth, through an understandable error in our calculations, to the group formed by VENUS and MERCURY, since the existence of such cold bodies could only be deduced from the perturbations observed in the OOYIA (SUN). From UMMO it is impossible to observe optically a cold body of that magnitude at more than 6 light years.
Until then (28 March 1950) no attention had been paid to your SUN.
The reason was that not the slightest signal of gravitational or electromagnetic waves had ever been received from that point, so that our specialists presumed this Planetary group to be uninhabitable.
The news was received with interest by our community, and with surprise by our technicians. The next step was to speculate, on the scant data, not free of wide margins of error, about the probability that each of the four OOYAA mentioned in this Planetary System might present of being identified with the newly christened emitting Centre OOYAGAA (“SQUARE” PLANET) (Incidentally, our specialists, speculating on the reason why you had sent us the message referring to that geometric figure, suspected that it was simply because you were using an interplanetary code based on simple geometric figures)
At that time our Technicians had calculated the probable masses of these four Solar Planets as follows:

(Such a Planet has turned out not to exist; it was deduced from the gravitational influences of MERCURY and VENUS: Estimated mass 2.6 · 1024 OOBO
(One OOBO -Unit of Mass- is equivalent to 1.733 Kilograms mass.
The first three planets thus seemed to be ruled out, their mass appearing excessive to harbour human biological beings. Their temperatures (As we have since verified) did not seem the most suitable either for the biogenetic development of multicellular organic beings.
As you have been able to see in the course of these preceding paragraphs, the errors of nuance in judging the episode of the reception of that message were rather serious.
On our arrival on EARTH we became aware of all these understandable failings. In the first place we have been able to clarify the true origin of the signal. It was not, as we believed, an interplanetary message sent by the Terrestrial Civilization, but a fragment of coded conversation sent by a Ship of Norwegian nationality which between 4 and 8 February 1934 transmitted on a trial basis while heading for Newfoundland. Some scientists of that Nationality, experts in electronics, then called W/T (wireless telegraphy), were testing high-frequency equipment intended to demonstrate the feasibility of communications by ionospheric reflection (At that time you were unaware of many techniques familiar today to present-day terrestrial engineers). Part of the signal reached us by chance.
The emission took some 14 years to reach UMMO, since electromagnetic waves propagate along a geodesic which, considered in three-dimensional space, turns out to be a straight line.
Immediately our UMMOELEWE (That is what we call our Council or Central Government, made up of three persons) ordered the relevant studies to be begun for the direct exploration of this Planetary System.
The process that our specialists in WADOXA OEMM (It could be translated as Travel between Stars) must follow for one of these momentous explorations is of a complexity unimaginable to you.
In the first place, the Distance measured in classical three-dimensional space is so enormous that any attempt to make the journey along the “straight” axis separating the two Planets is rejected on principle.
A hypothetical ship which, even having reached one hundred and eighteen thousand Km per sec. (Maximum advisable speed for these journeys), headed along that supposedly straight trajectory followed by light) towards this Planet would take more than thirty-five years to arrive.
But even if the arduous problem of having an energy source powerful enough to accelerate the ship to a speed close to that of light were solved, at which speed the vehicle would increase its relative mass to a fabulous value, fourteen years of travel is an excessive figure for a group of brave explorers.
It is very difficult to explain to you the System used by our Science and Technology to solve the problem, but we shall try to summarise it in a few paragraphs.
In the first place, our men specialized in Cosmology have known for a long time that the WAAM (TRANSLATE as UNIVERSE) is not simply a four-dimensional spatial continuum (The three classical dimensions plus TIME). The real WAAM is a pluridimensional complex. (We know of only ten dimensions.
Although you may imagine that our senses have access to only THREE of those dimensions (PSYCHOLOGICAL SPACE) and to Time, this is due to a simple aberrant assessment of the psychological concept of PERCEPTION. The outside world we know is an illusion elaborated by our brain. And just as an electromagnetic frequency appears to us as a beautiful colour, whereas when decreased in value (expressed in cycles per second) it is picked up by our nervous organs producing a totally different sensation, “HEAT”, so too the different dimensions of Nature appear camouflaged under different perceptions (Thus what we call mass is the illusory perception of another group of dimensions.
By studying the true nature of the corpuscles or entities you call PROTONS, MESONS, NEUTRONS, ELECTRONS, etc., our specialists discovered that they are in reality small deformations of space, wrongly called three-dimensional, along the axis of other dimensions. Imagine a sheet spread out. This would be the simile of the THREE-DIMENSIONAL Space that we would call empty. If we now make a small hollow or deformation in the sheet, this hollow may represent the mass of a proton, or perhaps that of a MUON, depending both on the Axis along which the deformation has been exerted and on the magnitude or depth of the little hollow.
Well then, if You stand looking at one side of the sheet you will notice a concavity (PROTON), but if you look at it from the reverse side you will interpret it as a convexity or protuberance (ANTIPROTON). Moreover, if you place your eyes at different perspectives, that deformation may seem more or less oblique to you, that is, exerted along different axes or dimensions, perhaps looking like a NEUTRON or any other of what you call subatomic Particles.
In a word. The interpretation of such a particle will depend on the System of reference in which the observer places himself. That is why the Physicists of Earth are so perplexed, discovering hundreds of atomic corpuscles whose series seems to have no end. In reality you are chasing ghosts. Something as if you were trying to catch the many reflections cast on the walls by a simple polyhedral crystal struck by sunlight.
(This last point is not a criticism of Terrestrial research in the Field of Quantum and Nuclear Physics, in so far as you go on analysing the different characteristics of those corpuscles, but of the fact that you consider them as differentiated entities)
Well then: The permutation of one corpuscle into another. Something you have already observed, according to our information, but do not yet know how to control. It is neither more nor less than A CHANGE OF AXIS, that is, A CHANGE OF DIMENSION. When the MASS of a PROTON, for example, disappears before you to become energy, what has really happened is that its AXIS has undergone a rotation of 90 degrees, becoming AXIAL to a classical dimension of Space. But this is for YOU and your SYSTEM of REFERENCE, since another Observer situated in the Perspective of a Fourth, Fifth or sixth Dimension would observe precisely the opposite Phenomenon: that Energy concentrates to form a Particle which he too would call a PROTON.
In reality you are experiencing in your Physics Laboratories what Terrestrial Physicists and Science Fiction Novelists have both so dreamed of: the Passage to the fourth Dimension. (Like that happy phrase of yours about “Speaking Prose without knowing it”). At the moment you manage to control, as we have done, the homogeneous inversion of all the subparticles of the Human Body, or of any object, this must be interpreted as the Passage from a referential system of Three-dimensional Space to Another, also three-dimensional but different from the first. In reality it is less fantastic than you imagined, and certainly different from what the futuristic writers of your Planet Earth have fantasized.
We need to clarify a third concept for you so that you may understand to some extent our Journeys through the Galaxy. You must not interpret the Space separating the different Galactic accumulations of the WAAM (COSMOS) with the simplistic simile of a flat, outspread Sheet either. Rather, it would look like that same sheet rippled by the wind, Ripples which, logically, if we are faithful to that didactic image, occur in a “fourth, a fifth, etc. dimension. (The origin of such ripples is EXTRACOSMOLOGICAL, Produced by a twin WAAM (COSMOS), but that matters little in this explanation. What is certain is that they occur, and this, strange as it may seem to you, facilitates extraplanetary journeys. Imagine two ink stains on the sheet 10 cm. apart. That would be the trajectory that a spaceship, or light, would have to follow leaving the first stain or Planet for the second. If you now Fold the sheet along an axis that cuts perpendicularly through the midpoint of the distance separating the two spots, there will no doubt exist, besides that distance (the one that terrestrial mathematicians would call the Geodesic),
the other, much shorter, which, leaving the surface of the sheet, crosses the air space separating the two points.
But note that this distance is axial to a dimension that lies outside the three-dimensional Space represented by the fabric of the sheet. The only way to succeed in placing ourselves in a three-dimensional frame of reference other than that of the very cloth of the sheet that serves as our simile will be to orient our own subatomic corpuscles towards a different axis. Expressed in the physical language of the Physicists of Earth: to permute the subatomic particles with rigorous homogeneous control.
For obvious reasons we cannot clarify for you any technical aspect of this process, which, on the other hand, you are not very far from achieving, although we fervently wish that you apply it more wisely than Nuclear Energy.
Under these conditions, an interplanetary Journey is not something we can make on a whim. It depends, as you can guess from the preceding explanations, on what we call the “USAAGIXOO” (Isodynamic) CONDITIONS of Space; Expressed in a form comprehensible to you: on the Folds of Space allowing two Stars to come close in such a way that the journey is feasible.
But these ripples or folds of Space are aperiodic; they do not follow a set law. They can be forecast in the short term, but within wide margins of error. For example, at this moment (January 1967) we know that one of these favourable intervals is approaching: (The margin of error extended from December to May of both years 1966-67)
The forecasts and their technique are much more difficult than your meteorological forecasts, or those of sunspots and solar storms, since such disturbances do not obey any known law, and unfortunately their source (UWAM) (It means the Anticosmos) is not accessible to us at all.
Nevertheless, the journey soon became feasible. After 193 XII (One xii is a rotation or “DAY” of UMMO) had elapsed, favourable conditions arose for the first exploration. Twenty-four men left for this Planetary System inside two OAUOLEEA UEUA OEMM (As we call the lens-shaped vehicles that travel outside our atmosphere)
As we shall go on to relate in the next report, This journey was merely exploratory, and the first objective reached turned out to be the one called by you NEPTUNE; we then discovered the Planet MARS and THE EARTH. Our brothers did not yet land on this planet.
The successive notes we send you will relate the vicissitudes undergone by the second group, which landed near the Town of DIGNE (France) on 28 March 1950, Facing a Civilization of which we knew nothing, from its language to its most fundamental techniques. The learning process, the anguished methods of defence improvised in the first days so as not to fall into the hands of the French authorities, the motives that led us to break your laws, resorting to theft to provide ourselves with paper money (Money that was finally returned), undoubtedly deserve to be set down in order to lay the foundations of a first attempt at a Historical account of the earliest relations between the two Planets.
